Activision Boxing

Activision Boxing was a video game released by Activision in 1982. It was one of the first boxing video games on the market. The game could also be played on Atari home consoles.

The game pitted a white fighter against a black fighter. There were no knockdowns, and fights were scheduled to a limit of one round, with two minutes to fight. Knockouts could only be, and automatically were, scored if a player connected with 100 punches. If the bout lasted the full two minutes, the player with the most punches landed would win by decision.

The game provided players with a "top of the ring" view of the action, therefore, the two boxer characters in it only had visible boxing gloves, arms, muscles, a head and a nose.

Later on, other games such as Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Atari's "World Championship Boxing" and Knockout Kings (arguably the most successful boxing video game in history) followed.
