The 11th Hour is a 1995 puzzle computer game with a horror setting. It is the sequel to the 1993 PC (DOS and Windows) game The 7th Guest. It was developed by Trilobyte and used a new graphic engine to render the game images, named the "Groovy" engine.
Description The game takes place 70 years after the events of the first game. Robin Morales, a big time TV reporter, comes to the village of Harley to investigate the early happenings at the Stauf mansion. Upon entering the house, however, she becomes trapped in yet another of Stauf's games. Her boyfriend, Carl Dennings, will strive to rescue Robin and will be the role the player takes.
Overall, the game plays exactly like its predecessor with the same puzzle-based game play structure. However, the game took on a radically new direction in terms of story and adult themes. Scenes depicting Robin Morales's romantic involvement with Carl Dennings are present as well as other violent, gruesome, and disturbing shots. The game has a much darker and mature atmosphere in comparison with the first game.
The 11th Hour failed upon its release, and soon Trilobyte ceased to exist for a variety of reasons.
Trivia Stauf is actually a clever anagram for Faust.
